Finding the Right Dentist

What do you need from a dentist in order that you can make an appointment that you can cope with?

The most frequently asked question is "How do I find the right dentist". For this reason I have made freely available the workbook "Finding the right Dentist" If you follow the simple steps outlined in the workbook you will know exactly how to find the right dentist. Or, if you prefer the personal touch you can call me on 05600 732681 and I will work through the process with you.

The first step in the workbook is available online Work out what stops you >>

When you finally manage to find the courage to seek professional help and worked out what you need from a dentist it is vital that you ensure the dentist will will work with you. They must be willing to give you the time, patience and understanding you will need to continue along the road to recovery in a way that you can handle. It cannot be a "hit and miss" situation, as it would be so easy to be "kicked back" into the depth of your fears if the first contact is not right. A wrong choice at this point could ruin months, or in some cases, years of hard work.

The Beyond Fear database is a list of dentists that "go the extra mile" when it comes to treating their patients.

Contact them and see if they offer what you require. If you use one of the dentists on the list please feedback, to the group, how things went. That way others will benefit from your experience.

Phobic Patient Recommendations

There are caring dentists that realise that there are "people behind the teeth" and will treat you as they would wish to be treated themselves. They will give you the time you need. They will talk to you and work with you to beat the problem.
When you see the "Extra (s)mile Award" symbol Beyond Fear has received excellent feedback from phobic patients who have visited the dentist concerned. They, with the help and support from the dentist, were able to successfully undergo treatment and deal with their fears.

By using this database please read the notes below

  1. Make sure that, before you commit to any treatment, you are comfortable with the dentist you choose.
  2. Dentists are able to add themselves to the database and entries ARE NOT VETTED by Beyond Fear.
  3. The onus lies on you to check that any claims made are valid.
  4. Inclusion on the list does not indicate any recommendation by Beyond Fear unless the dentist has been an awarded an "Extra Smile Award".

If you are unsure how to go about finding the right dentist for you please read the following leaflet - Finding a dentist which suggests some points for you to consider.

By using the database you agree not to use it for marketing, mailing, or advertising purposes.

Founder - Beyond Fear

“Using the resources on this site, I discovered that what I really needed was a dentist who could convincingly promise me painless treatment, who wouldn’t make any negative remarks about the state of my teeth, and who would offer me to take things AT MY PACE and never do anything that I might be frightened of. I would have to know that the dentist would stop at the slightest hint of discomfort if I so wished and let me be in charge at all times. I would need to be able to trust my dentist 100%.”
